James has coached in the YHL, MHL and Applewood over the last 5 years. He embraces the evolution of leading teams in business as well as in sport.
James holds Hockey Coach 2 among other certifications that he has taken over his time coaching. In his youth, James played competitive hockey at a rep level and still plays recreationally today.
He hopes with his coaching staff to foster a similar passion in the players of the U13 Red team, so they want to continue to play as adults as well. Partnering with Ed Franolic as his assistant coach,
the pair look to bring both a forward as well as defensive perspective to the game with the players through a collaborative coaching style that leverages each other’s strengths.
James is a believer that proper preparation, hard work and commitment go a long way to a player’s development. The goal for the team in the 2025/26 season is to have fun while focusing on continuous
improvement. Fostering a desire to compete, excel and a passion for the sport through a positive experience is of utmost importance. With that focus, success will come!!!
The 2024/2025 season was the first year of many of our group playing together at the red level. The goal is to improve through development and significant player additions that can add to a solid core.
As a coach, James aims to connect with the team to develop each of the player’s abilities, while creating a winning culture that together makes working to be their best enjoyable in the process.

Peter has an incredible 25+ years of coaching experience with the MHL, primarily with Applewood. For the last three years, he's been pulling double duty, coaching both his son's and daughter's teams!
Having played most of his career in the MHL and with Applewood, Peter is a familiar face in the association. Many have watched him grow from a young player to the dedicated coach he is today.
He still loves the game and is always up for some fun parents vs. players matches!
Peter and his coaching staff are committed to ensuring that players fall in love with the game. Their goal is to create lasting memories and foster a passion for hockey that players
will carry with them for life.
As a coach, Peter emphasizes the importance of teamwork. He believes that a team is a group of players who work well together, and that no single player can win a game alone.
Respect is a cornerstone of his coaching philosophy — respect for other players, coaches, parents, and referees. He advocates for sportsmanship and encourages celebrating goals, assists,
saves, and wins or losses in a respectful manner, without taunting the other teams.
Peter's aim is to develop each player's abilities while creating a positive culture that makes striving to be their best a fun and enjoyable process.

Mike has over 7 years of coaching experience with the GTHL, MHL and Applewood. He holds his “Coach 2” Hockey Coaching certification, as well as the other required certifications.
Mike has also coached house league soccer in Mississauga since 2005. Mike’s hockey careeer included playing Jr. B in Quebec, Junior A in Mississauga & playing for the Varsity Blues at the University of Toronto
I expect the kids to give 100% effort towards their hockey season, participating in as many practices as possible, paying attention to the instruction given, being a solid team player.
Regular dryland training at home (Running, weights, pushups, puck shooting) is strongly encouraged.
My philosophy is to give every child the same opportunity to play. I will rotate the lines equally, giving every child roughly the same ice time. I will reserve the right to lean on certain players
during the last 5 minutes of tight games at the end of the season, and in the playoffs. I do not believe in “benching” kids. If your child gets benched for a shift or two, it will most likely be due
to a discipline/respect issue & not related to their hockey ability or making mistakes on the ice.
I also expect the players and the parents to respect EVERYONE involved in our hockey season. This includes every player on our team and all players on all other teams. I will not tolerate any nonsense,
poor sportsmanship, name calling, or bullying directed at our team or other team’s players.
I expect parents to ENCOURAGE your child at all times. Please DO NOT berate your child, or yell negative comments at anyone from the stands including the other Team, the Referees, our coaches,
etc.. “Ask” your child what they thought of each game. Don’t “tell” your child what mistakes they made! Find something they did well, & tell them so.
I am always available to discuss any aspect of the team or your child. Please feel free to contact me for any questions, advice, concerns, etc..
