2010 Bill Buss Spring Invitational Tournament
March 24 - March 28, 2010

Rules and Regulations
  1. SIGN IN: CHA/MHL/GTHL rules will apply. Players must be carded to their respective teams in accordance with Canadian Hockey Association rules or the rules of their Governing Body if not from Canada. Hockey Canada Official Team Rosters are required as proof of players'eligibility.

    Team managers must report to the Tournament Registration Office at Tomken, Iceland, Hershey or Chic Murray Arenas as appropriate at least 30 minutes prior to their first scheduled game. At this time the Team Roster must be presented along with travel permit to Tournament Officials for verification.

  2. TEAM LISTS:  Prior to the first game, each team must submit a list of not more than
    19 players eligible to play in the tournament. Only players whose names appear on the list will be permitted to play. A player must play in at least one of the round robin games to be eligible to play in the Semi-Final and/or the Championship rounds. Teams may dress a maximum of 19 players, two (2) of which must be goaltenders.
     
  3. GAME START TIMES:  All teams are requested to be ready to play one half hour before scheduled game times. Teams must remain flexible in that they may be moved forward
    or back as circumstances dictate.
     
  4. SWEATERS:  Each team should bring two sets of sweaters. The home team in each
    game will wear light coloured sweaters. The home team will be the first team listed on the schedule.
     
  5. Teams will be responsible for any damage to dressing rooms and other arena
    facilities. Should you notice any damage to a dressing room prior to using it, please report the damage to Tournament Officials immediately. Failure to do so could result in your team being held responsible. It is each team's sole responsibility for any loss or theft from its dressing room - make sure you obtain a key and lock your room during your game.
     
  6. All games will be played in accordance with Canadian Hockey Association /
    Mississauga Hockey League Rules, for example:

     
  7. Players must wear approved equipment only. 
               
  8. All games will be three periods, twelve (12) twelve (12) twelve (12) minutes stop time. A three-minute warm-up will be provided before the start of each game. Should there be a five goal differential at any time during the third period, running time will apply for the remainder of the period, regardless of any subsequent reduction in the goal differential.
       
  9. In the event of a tie at the end of the round robin series, for any position, the following
    procedures will be used to break the tie:
     
    a) If two teams are tied, the team that won the round robin game against the other will take the higher position;
     
    b) If they have not played each other, or are still tied, the team with the best goal average gains the higher position. The goal average is determined as follows: Divide the total numbers of goals (for and against) into the total goals for. The team with the highest percentage takes the highest position. Example Goals For 10: Goals against 4: 10 divided by 14 = 71.4%.
     
    c) If still tied, the team which received the fewest penalty minutes will take the higher position;
     
    d) If still tied, a coin toss will decide the higher position;
     
    e) In the event a tie exists between three or more teams, the point record established in the games among the tied teams only will be used as the first tie breaking formula in deciding which team(s) shall advance.
     
    f) If still tied, the team with the best goal average gains the highest position. The goal average of a team is determined as follows: Divide the total numbers of goals (for and against) into the total goals for. The team with the highest percentage takes the highest position. Example Goals For 10: Goals against 4: 10 divided by 14 = 71.4%. Note all round robin games are included.

    g) If still tied, the team which received the fewest penalty minutes will take the higher position; 

    h) If still tied, a coin toss will decide the higher position;

  10. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation in any Semi-Final or Final game, the
    following procedures will be used to determine a winner:
       
    a) A ten-minute stop time period will be played with a reduction of one player on
    each team (4 on 4)
     
    b) b) If still tied, a further five-minute stop time period will be played with a further
    reduction of one player on each team (3 on 3)
     
    c) If still tied, a further five-minute stop time period will be played with a further
    reduction of one player on each team (2 on 2)
     
    d) If still tied, play will continue 2 on 2 until a goal is scored.
     
  11. In the Semi-Final or Final games only, each team will be permitted one 30-second time-out.
